du sujet :L’innovation dans le domaine des pneumatiques est une préoccupation majeure pour proposer des matériaux toujours plus performants.
Dans ce contexte, le contrôle et la compréhension des phénomènes microscopiques qui régissent la structure des élastomères sont des enjeux cruciaux pour optimiser les propriétés macroscopiques de ces matériaux.
Pour atteindre ces objectifs, le projet de recherche que nous proposons consiste à développer des modèles de changement d’échelle dans des logiciels de simulation, prenant en compte les spécificités moléculaires des longues chaînes de polymères enchevêtrés.
A partir de simulations en dynamique moléculaire atomistique, on cherchera à modéliser les interactions entre gros grains.
La difficulté consiste à obtenir un modèle utilisable à différentes pressions (densité, compressibilité) et différentes compositions (copolymères statistiques, homopolymères et plastifiants).
Le modèle à développer, tenant compte de la densité et de la composition locales et/ou d’effets mémoire, devra reproduire fidèlement la structure d’un fondu de polymère, depuis l’échelle du monomère jusqu’à l’échelle de la chaîne (rayon de giration, enchevêtrements).
Les simulations réalisées ensuite à l’échelle gros grains (dissipative particle dynamics, DPD) serviront à fournir les paramètres nécessaires aux simulations aux échelles encore supérieures (slip links).

PhD Offer – Modeling of Coarse-Grained Polymer–Polymer Interactions
Innovation in the tire industry is a major preoccupation in the search for ever more high-performance materials.
In this context, controlling and understanding the microscopic phenomena governing the structure of elastomers is crucial to optimizing the macroscopic properties of these materials.
To achieve these objectives, the proposed research project aims to develop multiscale modeling approaches within simulation software, taking into account the molecular specifics of realistic entangled polymer chains.
Using a bottom-up approach based on atomistic molecular dynamics simulations, the aim is to model interactions between coarse-grained particles.
A key challenge is to develop a model that is transferable as a function of pressure variations (density, compressibility) and compositions (statistical copolymers, homopolymers, and plasticizers).
The model to be developed will incorporate local density and composition effects and/or memory effects, and must accurately reproduce the structure of a polymer melt, from the monomer scale up to the chain scale (radius of gyration, entanglements).
Subsequent simulations will be performed at the coarse-grained scale using dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) and will be used to compute parameters for simulations at even larger scales (slip-links models).
