Context & Job description
As part of a group of 15 engineers, you will participate in a project focusing on the implementation of FAIR data management practices of datasets for the ESRF and related data repositories.
In the context of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) the adoption of Open Science practices is increasing.
Data from Photon and Neutron (PaN) facilities is becoming available for a wider range of users.
You will work in close collaboration with software engineers working on data management, databases, data processing, metadata collection and web portals.
You will interact with scientists and users to address their needs in data management.
You will interact with the EOSC community of users.
Your missions will be the following:
Help make ESRF data easier to find and use by developing web tools and working with Oracle and Mongo databasesAdapt AI/LLM tools for the analysis of electronic logbooks produced during beamline operationsExtend the definitions of experimental techniques to classify existing datasets with themDeploy generic web services in the PaN European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) nodeRaise visibility of ESRF data by linking them to trusted networks and external data repositoriesExtend the use of DOIs for datasets to samples and other digital objects Expected profile
Higher university degree (Master or equivalent diploma offering 300 ECTS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or equivalent2 years minimum of professional related experienceGood to high knowledge of data modeling, metadata and data formatsGood to high knowledge of PythonExperience in developing web applicationsUnderstanding and experience with AI/ML techniques is a plusFamiliarity working on a Linux environmentGood communication skills and team spiritProficiency in English (working language at the ESRF) Working conditions
The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
